My jewelry is inspired by movement – by the radiating waves created by a drop of rain on water, the arching leap of a dancer, by sinuous tendrils of smoke. Also, by movement in myself and others, the graceful arc of an arm and by spiraling, turning, circular movement. These inspirations are evident in the curvilinear shapes in my designs – undulating, spiraling, arching.
I translate this sense of the pleasure of movement into the idea of a form. I then shape wire into the desired form, hammering the piece for both design aspects and strength. Next, I choose a complement of gemstones to pair with these shapes to create a harmonious balance. These gemstones are then carefully hand wired to their frame and a new design and its possibilities is born.
